Montgomery County, MD (January 23, 2024) — The Montgomery County Green Bank (Green Bank) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mary Edwards as the new Chief Credit Officer, effective January 2025. In this pivotal role, Mary will oversee the Green Bank’s credit risk management to support its mission of financing clean energy, energy efficiency, and sustainability projects across Montgomery County.

“We are delighted to welcome Mary to the Green Bank team,” says Montgomery County Green Bank CEO, Stephen Morel. “Her deep expertise in commercial credit and extensive background in finance management will significantly enhance our ability to scale investments that drive environmental and economic benefits for our community.”

Mary Edwards brings more than 18 years of commercial credit experience to the Green Bank. She completed formal credit training at BB&T and has held senior credit positions at TD Bank and Burke & Herbert Bank.

Prior to joining the Montgomery County Green Bank, Mary served as the Senior Director of Credit Administration at DC Green Bank. In that role, she was responsible for establishing and managing credit policies, procedures, loan operations, and portfolio management.

A long-time resident of Alexandria, VA, Mary holds an undergraduate degree in business from Salem College.
