SUMMARY:Resilience as an Asset Class: The Role of Local Climate Finance in Housing and Community Investment.
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Montgomery County Green Bank’s Resilience Financing Program\, Protecting the Path to Net-Zero (PPNZ) \nAs climate impacts intensify\, federal resilience funding remains insufficient\, leaving billions in unmet resilience needs. Local green banks and CDFIs are uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between community needs and private capital — but they require a model that works at the community scale while attracting sustained private investment. \nMontgomery County’s Protecting the Path to Net-Zero initiative demonstrates how a localized approach can de-risk investments and deliver measurable resilience ROI. \nDuring New York Climate Week\, join the Montgomery County Green Bank and technical partners PRE Collective\, AEI Consultants\, and Quantified Ventures for an in-depth look at PPNZ — a groundbreaking financing model that aligns private capital with scalable resilience strategies for housing and communities. This session will unveil a first-of-its-kind financial tool\, paired with a comprehensive technical framework\, to unlock catalytic capital for climate risk management\, water stewardship\, and health-focused housing improvements. From reduced operating costs to long-term savings through proactive resilience planning\, PPNZ illustrates how strategic investment—guided by standardized tools like the ASTM Property Resilience Assessment (PRA)—can unlock measurable value and risk-adjusted returns. This session will highlight the pivotal role of local green banks in designing market-enabling solutions that mobilize capital\, accelerate cross-sector collaboration\, and reframe resilience as an investable\, scalable opportunity. \nSpeakers \n\nSteve Morel\, CEO\, Montgomery County Green Bank\nLaura Mondragon\, Director of Climate Resilience and Adaptation\, Montgomery County Green Bank\nShalini Vajjhala\, Executive Director\, PRE COLLECTIVE\nTee Thomas\, CEO\, Quantified Ventures\nHelena Ariza\, Vice President\, Sustainability & Resilience\, AEI Consultants\n\n  \n✅ What You’ll Gain \n🔹 Transformative Perspective\nDiscover how local climate finance is driving market transformation.  \n🔹 Market-Relevant Insights\nExplore how PPNZ is creating new climate adaptation and resilience investment opportunities in the affordable housing sector.  \n🔹 Financial Strategy & Innovation\nUnderstand local financing structures that reduce investment risk while delivering measurable ROI. \n🔹 Cross-Sector Engagement\nConnect with leaders across finance\, policy\, and community development who are shaping the future of market-based resilience. \n🔹 Actionable Takeaways\nWalk away with strategies on how tailored\, needs-based financing can scale resilience across communities\, reduce climate risk exposure\, and drive long-term savings. \n🔹 On-the-Ground Tools\nLearn how tools like the ASTM E3429 Property Resilience Assessment (PRA)\, are informing smarter climate investments. \n  \nEvent Format:\nThe event will kick off with a networking session\, offering a chance to connect with peers across sustainable finance\, policy\, resilience\, housing\, and community development. This will be followed by an overview of the Montgomery County Green Bank’s Resilience Finance Program\, along with expert presentations highlighting investment opportunities and practical tools to guide effective resilience decision-making. We’ll conclude with a dynamic roundtable discussion focused on identifying tangible pathways for collaboration\, scaling\, and replication. \nWe look forward to welcoming you! \n
