Nonprofits and for-profit businesses traditionally have lacked an affordable financing option to install solar arrays with less than 100 kW of generation capacity. The Green Bank’s Commercial Solar PPA provides a financing solution that often only larger projects can access. The Commercial Solar PPA is a financing solution designed for onsite, smaller solar arrays.
- Nonprofits can install solar systems with no upfront cost and lock in today’s energy price for 20 years. For-profit entities can install solar systems with no upfront cost and pay a discounted price for the solar energy with a minimal escalator.
- The Commercial Solar PPA is designed to benefit smaller arrays installations, typically 100 kW or smaller, which is perfect for buildings with limited space.

Inclusive Prosperity Capital (IPC), a nonprofit dedicated to solar development, is the Green Bank’s partner to implement the projects. IPC will design, build, finance, own and operate the solar arrays. IPC will enter into a PPA with you as the customer, and you then pay a PPA rate to IPC for the power generated (which is power you no longer need to pay to the utility). IPC will make the contractual arrangements for system construction (though an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction contract with your installer). IPC will also manage the contractual arrangements for operation and maintenance of the systems, as well as for tax benefits, SRECs, and other issues.
